The World Traveler asked:
Okay, I’m going to be connecting in Seoul Incheon next month from Toronto, Canada to go to Busan. My flight to Incheon is with Air Canada and my flight to Busan is with Asiana Airlines. I booked them seperate (it was easier that way). I got 4 hours between the flights. Do I have to go through customs and get my luggage and go check in at the asiana counter and go through security again? Or get my luggage after customs and go to the Asiana transfer counter? Can someone explain to me what the process would be from arriving at incheon to broading my flight to Busan. Thanks! =D
it was cheaper and easier. The no travel agent or website would let me combine the flights.
It’s actually one hour to busan from Incheon by air and i’d rather just take a plane its easier for me.

You made a stupid mistake. Had you booked it through there would be no reason to fret with the automatic baggage transfer. Was it easier or cheaper? lets get real here. You should still be in the international terminal you should be able to drag your bags to the Asiana Counter without exiting through customs.

i agree. you shouldve have booked separately. it’d wouldve been hecka lot easier, but oh well..whats done is done.
at least you have 4 hours in between. i’m guessing that should be enough, but if i rmr correctly, you are going to have to get out of the airport, and then back in.
it will be tiring.

It would have been even cheaper and less hassle for you to have just gotten tickets on KTX to get to Busan instead of booking another flight. The trip by train would have only been 2.5 hours.
The 4 hours you have trying to get through customs and rechecking your bag for a 2 hour flight down to Busan could have been better spent taking a bus to Seoul station and then a nice train ride down to Busan. In fact, you would have gotten to Busan an hour earlier with less stress.
That being said, you will have to retrieve your bags at baggage claim, go through customs and then recheck them with Asiana. You should have time, depending on how many people are on your flight, how long it takes to get your bags and how many people are going through customs. It will be a pain, but it’s doable.
